Our Folios<\/em> are traveling portfolios of medium-format stereo slides.\u00a0\"foliobox\"<\/a><\/em> The purpose of the portfolios is to share images among a group of artists.\u00a0 The process is quite simple:<\/p>\n

  1. Receive the portfolio box (usually by mail).<\/li>\n
  2. View and comment on the images in the box.<\/li>\n
  3. Replace your images in the box with new ones.<\/li>\n
  4. Send the box on to the next artist.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In eight to ten months, the box comes back around.\u00a0 Having visited each of the other artists, the box now contains all new slides and the cycle continues.<\/p>\n

    The folio contains works from artists in North America.\u00a0 Most of them are original works and many are irreplaceable.\u00a0 Please treat them with respect and care.\u00a0 If there are any questions at all regarding any aspect of the folio, its handling, the condition of the slides, or shipping, please contact one of the administrators<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    How much does it cost to participate?<\/strong> \u2013 There are currently no administrative costs or membership fees.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to be member of any group or pay dues to any organization.\u00a0 The only cost to you is the cost of sending the package on to the next participant.<\/p>\n

    Who can participate?<\/strong> \u2013 Any artist in North America who produces medium-format stereo images may participate.\u00a0 The only requirement is that you be a responsible and trustworthy adult.

    \nWhat images are permissible?<\/strong> \u2013 Anything you can record on film is acceptable.\u00a0 This includes nudes, computer generated images, dark-room manipulated images and anything else you can think of.\u00a0 The images must be mounted in 80\u00d7132 (cardboard) or 80\u00d7140 (plastic) mounts.\u00a0 Glass mounted slides are not permitted.\u00a0 Protective plastic sleeves are encouraged.<\/p>\n

    I have to put my slides in the mail?<\/strong> \u2013 A\u2019yep.\u00a0 That\u2019s how the box gets around.<\/p>\n

    What if they get lost?<\/strong> \u2013 If the box gets lost, the images are gone.\u00a0 It\u2019s a risk.\u00a0 Losses happen.\u00a0 Damage happens.\u00a0 But they don\u2019t happen very often and life goes on.\u00a0 If you have an absolutely irreplaceable image, maybe it should be shared by means other than a traveling portfolio.<\/p>\n

    I\u2019ve only been shooting for a few months.\u00a0 Can I still participate?<\/strong> \u2013 Each of us was once a newbie.\u00a0 Other artists want to see your work.\u00a0 If you are willing to share, please do so.\u00a0\u00a0 You will receive useful feed-back on your work and have the opportunity to view the work of others.<\/p>\n

    Can I get help mounting my images?<\/strong> \u2013 If you need help mounting images, just ask!<\/p>\n

    How long does the folio take to \u201ccycle\u201d?<\/strong> \u2013 Eight to ten months is a normal cycle.<\/p>\n

    How many slides may I submit?<\/strong> \u2013 You may submit up to four slides each time the box comes around.<\/p>\n
