This is a favorite place for hiking and fishing. Not sure if the fishing is any good. Since it is so close to our house we frequently go here. The Addicks Reservoir and Addicks Dam in conjunction with the <a title=\"Barker Reservoir\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barker_Reservoir\">Barker Reservoir<\/a> prevent downstream flooding of <a title=\"Buffalo Bayou\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Buffalo_Bayou\">Buffalo Bayou<\/a> in the City of Houston. In addition to the Reservoir&#8217;s flood damage reduction mission, recreation and nature observation opportunities abound through the approximately 26,000 acres (105\u00a0km\u00b2) of land that makes up Addicks and Barker reservoirs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The place: Addicks Dam ( &amp; reservoir), Houston, about 3 miles from my house.
